Frequently asked questions

How many work hours are in a year?

A standard full-time employee works 52 weeks × 40 hours = 2,080 hours per year. This is used to convert annual salary to hourly rate: $75,000 ÷ 2,080 = $36.06/hour.

What is the difference between bi-weekly and semi-monthly?

Bi-weekly = 26 pay periods per year (every 2 weeks). Semi-monthly = 24 pay periods per year (twice per month). This means bi-weekly pays are slightly smaller but occur more often. Annual total is the same.

Does this calculate taxes?

No — this calculator shows gross (pre-tax) equivalents. To estimate take-home pay, use our Income Tax Calculator which includes federal tax and FICA calculations.

Note: All amounts shown are gross (pre-tax). Actual take-home pay will be lower after income taxes, Social Security, Medicare, and other deductions.
